Why VETlímce

VETlímce — comfortable and safe post-operative collars for dogs and cats — are unique hand-sewn products that help manage the difficult moments after surgery, for both the animal and its owner. They are equally valuable during long-term recovery or when dealing with chronic conditions such as allergies or self-harm (excessive grooming, chewing, etc.). Beyond comfortable collars, VETlímce continues to develop solutions related to the treatment of specific conditions, such as gastrointestinal issues, diabetes, oncological diseases, and similar ailments.

Every stitch carries a piece of our love for animals, and every VETlímce comes with a level of individual care that you will not find anywhere else — we work together with you to select the perfectly fitting collar for your animal companion, always making sure to take all important factors into account.

VETlímce has undergone several years of development in collaboration with veterinary professionals, breeders, and above all, the animals themselves. First, dozens of dogs and cats provided us with the best and most rigorous feedback, which helped us establish a unique system for taking measurements, selecting material types, and designing cuts. Now, hundreds and thousands more animals continuously keep us on our toes and enable us to keep moving forward in the search for a new standard of care for our animal companions. Because of their unique solution, VETlímce products are subject to industrial property protection in dozens of countries, and their manufacturing procedures are based on a proprietary calculation system combined with knowledge of the anatomy and behaviour of individual breeds. It is precisely this that allows us to say with pride that we offer more than just a post-operative protective collar for animals.

The VETlímce solution draws on experience that has long been overlooked. The use of the first post-operative cone collars for animals was recorded as far back as 1897. Research shows that nearly 80% of dog and cat owners encounter a wide range of negative effects associated with the commonly used cone collar — typically a hard plastic one. In addition to many well-known drawbacks of ordinary plastic collars, such as restricted eating and drinking or disrupted spatial orientation, wearing one is also linked to further adverse effects — auditory irritation, impaired peripheral vision, eating disorders, and others. Combined with additional discomforts arising from health issues, the animal's stress load is significantly increased. Stress, in turn, has a fundamentally negative impact on wound healing and can lead to unpredictable behaviour, including impaired socialisation or heightened aggression. Furthermore, wearing a plastic collar is regularly associated not only with one-off injuries but also with long-term health problems (in up to a quarter of cases). These include the development of allergies to certain types of plastic, the worsening of skin problems caused by abrasions and skin irritation, and infections caused by the accumulation of saliva inside the plastic collar. The alternatives used to date have generally not provided sufficient assurance in terms of either safety or protection.

Our VETlímce, however, have since 2021 offered a sufficiently safe and proven alternative and a new standard in the health and well-being of pets — for the first time in 100 years of recorded medical practice. We believe that just as the means of post-operative and long-term treatment for people evolve, it is equally appropriate to improve care for animals. We therefore recognise the needs that animals have, and for which — thanks to our experience — we can gradually seek suitable solutions. That is why we continually strive to design new models and innovate our products, working together with our customers and supporters to move animal treatment and care forward once more.

Let us together say farewell to the restrictive plastic — there is a better way! They deserve more.
