Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What makes VETlímce special?
Compared to classic plastic collars, they offer many advantages and provide the animal with both physical and mental comfort:
- prevent contact with the wound
- do not impair spatial awareness
- allow trouble-free feeding
- ensure restful sleep
- do not irritate the skin, reduce the risk of skin chafing
Are VETlímce safe?
Yes. Animal safety comes first. We spent several months developing them in collaboration with veterinary doctors, fine-tuning the details and making sure that recovery can be managed with minimal stress — and above all, safely.
Can I return a VETlímec within 14 days of purchase?
Because every VETlímec is handmade and produced exactly to the measurements of your companion, it is prepared for you individually to order. For this reason it cannot be returned (pursuant to § 1837 of the Civil Code). However, if you have any issue with your VETlímec, please get in touch — we always try to find a fair solution.
How do I fit the collar correctly?
Three rules matter: choose the right size (the collar must always be longer than the animal's muzzle — roughly 4 cm when lying down), fasten it with the hook-and-loop strips around the outer rim and at the neck, and secure the collar against being pulled off by threading the harness through the neck loops. Detailed instructions for dogs, cats and gastro tubes are on the Usage Guide page.
When should I avoid the collar without fastening (slipped over the head)?
Choose the collar without fastening — slipped over the head — if your pet is inventive and there's reason to assume it would show heightened interest in the fastening (playing with it, trying to bite it). This version is not suitable, however, if your dog's skull is larger than its neck circumference — the collar simply wouldn't slip over. In that case, choose the classic version with a fastening around the neck.
For which injuries can VETlímce be used?
We can confidently recommend the collar for injuries in the area of the abdomen, groin, torso, back, and front limbs. For the hind limbs — specifically the paw area — things are somewhat more complex. Here we proceed on an individual basis, taking into account the animal's body structure and other characteristics. You can be assured that we will always tell you honestly how things stand and will, if appropriate, advise against the collar.
How can I order a collar?
A major added value of our collars is that you always receive individual consultation, so you can be confident that you have a product that precisely meets the needs of your pet. VETlímce can be purchased in two ways: through our order form on our website, to which we will respond with a specific offer, or through our network of partner veterinary practices, where staff will be happy to help you choose. A list of partner practices can be found in the Partner Vets section.
Our products are shipped via PPL and DPD carriers. Personal pick-up is of course available by prior arrangement. Collars in individual sizes are typically delivered within two days.
Do insurance companies cover VETlímce?
Yes, VETlímce are reimbursed by selected insurance providers. Please check with your insurance provider regarding the terms and benefits available to you under your current policy.
